My name is Jacinta Oyella and I have known Dr. Tacey Ruffner for three years. She has been a volunteer tutor at Kamloops Immigrant Services. As an international medical graduate from Uganda, Canadian medical regulatory bodies and universities require that I meet the Canadian English language requirement.
Although I had 21 years of education in English in Uganda, there was something about the Canadian English test that only Tacey was able to unlock. Her support and advice were indispensable. The catch was in the cultural differences between the English that I used in Uganda and the English which is used in Canada.
I aced the test after receiving support from Tacey and scored 29/30 in the writing section. Thank you, Tacey, as I have been able to apply to several universities and for a clinical education licence in British Columbia.
